JD and the Issues
The following issues are from JD’s own web page. I encourage you to read his web page to see for yourself his warped sense of government.
War on Terror: JD supports Bush and is willing to spend whatever it takes, in lives and money, to fight terrists. He advocates the creation of a terrist fighting ground (Iraq) in the middle east. Hayworth does not address the American policies that have led to the hatered of Americans over the years. War is the only answer he offers.
Immigration: Here JD likes to play "tough guy" and fight against sensible solutions. He fights Governor Janet Napalatano, as well as his fellow Republicans, against the guest worker initiatave. He is in favor of spending billions of dollars on a 700-mile, 50-foot high fence between the US and Mexico. Even the Communists could make the Berlin Wall work. He is obnoxious to the President Fox of Mexico as he tell him to "shut up" about policy. Those kind of negotation skills get you into more wars.
Taxes: JD is for making the tax cuts to the super-rich permanent. He austiciously uses the poor of this country as an example to make his point. He does not mention the fact he has done nothing to repeal the alternate minimum tax that will cripple the middle class making between $100k and $250K (most of his constituency).
National Security: He blames Clinton for depletion in Defense spending, yet he and the Republicans are crippling this country with this worthless war, plunging us into the highest deficit ever. He wants to enhance the quality of life for the military, but he puts super-rich tax cuts first. Those are his priorities.
Education: JD supports Bush’s failed No Child Left Behind program. This very program has been the target for many state lawsuits for being mandatory program without any funding support from the Federal Government. This initiave was crafted by Margaret Spellings, one of the many Bush cronies from Texas. Spellings also behing the scandal that used federal money to finance propaganda to support the initiative to Armstrong Willimas. JD has no real opinion on eduction - he just sings the party line for his supper.
Same Sex Marriage: JD believes there should be a constitutional ammendment banning gay marriage. That’s just silly. Let each state do what they want.
Medicare: JD supports the obscure prescription drug coverage that will make the pharmacutical companies rich, and limit medicare receipients choices.
Social Security: JD wants to do away with Social Security as we know it and create personal investment accounts. These accounts will be managed by high-dollar brokers, and if you want to retire when the market is down, too bad - you should have been born rich.
Veterans: JD says he is for Veterans Benifits, but he has never introduced any legislation to support vetrans during this meaningless war. JD continues to allow Bush to get away with the back-door draft by forcing our National Guard and part time service folks to longer terms than they expected. Doing nothing does not make you for Veterans.
Environment: JD supports Bush’s inappropriately named the Clear Skies Bill. JD’s web site states, "Clear Skies is a mandatory program that will reduce power plant emissions by 70 percent over the next 15 years." Is that why the lobbiest of the biggist polluters were so in favor of the bill? This initiave lowers required response time for cleanup (to give corporations a break), it allows 3 times more carcongenic mercury emmissions, and 50% more sulfur emissions. It does nothing to address the global warming issue that the Bush Republicans deny is happening. This bill put environmental regulations back 20 years - not for your protection, but to line the pockets of the big polluters.
