Hayworth Under Federal Investigation

Friday, August 11th, 2006

JD Hayworth has managed to find himself in the "first teir" of lawmakers targed by a Justice Department investigation into influence-peddling on Capitol Hill.  Hayworth stands accused for wrecklessly trading his Congressional vote and influence for money received from Jack Abramoff.

Hayworth wrote a response to the  Justice Department pulling out every excuse in the book.  He said he welcomed the chance to clear up the matter (as if he had a choice….).  Hayworth also used his position as the chairman of the Native American Caucus as and excuse to imply he has done nothing wrong, but in doing so he has insulted the entire Native American community.

Hayworth has admited he received $100,000 in campaign cash from Indian tribes, including $2,250 from those affiliated with Abramoff which he now claims he will return.  Recall at the beginning of this ordeal you had to pry the money from JD's greedy, clinched hands.  He only conceded to return the money when he was caught red handed in the cookie jar.  If you examine his voting record, you will see he did everything Abramhoff paid him to do.   That sort of corruption is inexcusable.
