Hayworth Camp Lies to FEC

Tuesday, March 21st, 2006

What is wrong with taking money from a gay, professional gambler?  As long as it's within acceptable limits, absolutly nothing.  But if When you lie to the Federal Election Commission about who gives you money, then it becomes a problem.

If a candidate gets money from some big time Vegas "Mob" gambler (Keith Sexton) and you don't want your constituency to know about it, just leave the occupation off the disclosure reporting form and make the FEC ask for more information.  Then you claim you made your best effort to get the donor's occupation.  That's exactly how JD does it. See here.

Never mind that you received checks from 7 people just two days after the big Kyl/Bush fundraiser last November.  One of them was a Professional Vegas Gambler (Keith Sexton) that gave you the maximum allowable donation while the other was the mother of Johnathan Tratt (Big time Real Estate Developer) who also gave the maximum.  The other 5 folks just don't rate - they gave anywhere from $1K to $250.

Johnathan Tratt has given the max to JD in the past.  He donates to a handfull of Republicans across the country, including Law and Order star Fred Thompson of Tennessee.  Funny thing about Johnathan, he filed a beneficiary deed to his Phoenix property to Keith Sexton, but I digress.

On the disclosure statement, JD's accountant gave a fake address for Keith Sexton.  According to the Clark County Assessor, the address given was the mailing address and physical address of a Korean man.  Either things are getting dicy, or it was fake.

Speaking of Law and Order, that reminds me of Jack McCoy when he is cross-examining a witness and asks them, "Were you lying then, or are you lying now?".

JD Mails Illegal Flyer at Taxpayer Expense

Tuesday, March 21st, 2006

A couple of weeks ago, JD sent out a flyer to his constituents and forgot to include the rest of the public.  That's fine, but the problem is the flyer was paid for by public taxpayer funds.

The title was Report to the People and it consisted of all of JD's ideas on immigration.  Read about it here.

JD Votes to Deregulate State Food Safety Laws

Sunday, March 5th, 2006

On March 2, JD Hayworth voted yes on HR4167. The intent of this bill is to federalize the current state-regulated food-safety and labeling laws. HR4167 has a provision that repeals tougher state laws in favor of looser federal standards.

A group of 37 state attorneys general, Republican and Democrat, sent a letter to Congress on March 1 warning that the measure could undermine state’s rights and consumer protection. Part of the letter states:

Important consumer warnings about mercury in fish, arsenic in drinking water and lead in cans are just a few examples of state food labeling requirements that would be eviscerated by this bill

Critics of the bill, however, describe the legislation as an effort by food manufacturers to undo many state laws and regulations they previously opposed.

“The real effect of this legislation will be the deregulation of the United States food industry,” said Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Los Angeles.

The food industry has been lobbying Congress to pass similar legislation for two decades. Supporters of the bill include industry giants such as Nestle USA, the HJ Heinz Co., Kraft Foods and Sara Lee Corp., as well as supermarket chains and trade associations that have joined to form the National Uniformity for Food Coalition.

The Congressional Budget Office estimates that at least 200 state laws or regulations could be invalidated by the new measure.

Hayworth: Snap King

Wednesday, March 1st, 2006

When asked about his position on the recent Dubai port takeover deal, JD responded with, “There’s just a simple rule that governs my philosophy on these things. When in doubt, cut it out.”

Wow, he gets $165,200 a year to come up with this?
